This page refers to the Art called Eskrima 1-2-3 De campo Heneral. A stick fighting system founded by the late Paterno P. Zabate. He was one of the few students taught of the Art 1-2-3 De Campo Original by its Original founder, late GM/Prof. Jose Diaz Caballero.

Jose Diaz Caballero founded the Art De Campo Original on 1925 and during his prime, he was undefeated of the real Huego Todo (no holds barred) fights using single stick against many opponents. His record (found on the panpage of Jose Diaz Caballero) was undefeated of 100 fights and champion until his retirement from fights.

Paterno P. Zabate, from Maria Cristina, Lanao Del Norte, Mindanao, was the only student among his batch selected by GM Jose Dias Caballero to continue his De Campo training and learning and became a De Campo Specialist (Highest Level awarded to a student by founder GM Caballero). He started his training on 1958-59 and continue on a one on one close door session for the Specialization course until he finish the course on 1961. Bearing his few real Huego Todo fights that he won and survived, he formed and founded his own Eskrima System based on De Campo Original, and named it 1-2-3 De Campo heneral.  Among his notable students was late Roberto Zabate, a Kung fu Six Dan Black Belt and on 1968, he trained a group of American Mormon Missionaries in his home town in Maria Cristina. These personalities came from Salt Lake City USA who were assigned missionaries of the Chruch of christ of the Later Day Saints and did their mission in Lanao del Norte. Paterno P. Zabate (PPZ) also trained his family members particularly his sons  including Pat Miramar.

Pat Miramar started training De Campo at a very young age of 9 yr old boy on 1968. Training continued with countable real fights until he grew to a matured person and raised his own family. And on 1989, after 21 yrs, his father PPZ awarded him the highest de campo level called Spealize level. Then lately, Pat Miramar realized that he has to continue his father's legacy and form his new Martial Arts, named the ESKRIMA PPZ.

Eskrima PPZ is based on the teaching of Eskrima 1-2-3 De Campo Heneral he learned and trained from his father PPZ.

THE ESKRIMA PPZ TRAINING CONCEPT AND PRINCIPLES:

Eskrima PPZ train those who are interested to know and learn the art 1-2-3 DeCampo Heneral. Learning includes the History and origin of the Eskrima 1-2-3 De Campo.

Training focus mainly on single stick fighting although the art also has double stick techniques. To know the basic fundamentals, principles and apply them as a way of life. Motivates self discipline... and most of all, self defense. It promote healhty lifestyle to constant practice and training.

The first step of training for a De Campo beginner starts with the Abecedario Concept. Knowing the basic angle of strikes and blockings ( The 7-strike-block angles ), and perform the single form. Training will be followed with the counter strike and the final strike on the head and neck level or direction. The three strikes combination is the so called 1-2-3 of the Art's name. The first means "Strike First", the second means "Counter" and third means "Finish Strike".

After completing this beginner's course, student is ready and able to defend himself at any time at any given situation provided his stick and skill are applicable to the limitation of stick defense and fighting condition/s (We should not be talking of guns here), thus, he may take the option to proceed to the next level of curriculum.

Eskrima 1-2-3 De Campo Heneral (of Eskrima PPZ) is for all ages, young (preferably above 10 yrs old), young adults and elderly of any gender. It is not for sports compititions, tournaments and the likes. Uniform is optional to all learners. Any outfit can do. There are three fighting ranges of Eskrima/Arnis system, the Corto-Mano(short range), Medio-Mano (medium range) and Largo-Mano (long range) and De campo Heneral considers only two, the Medio-MAno for beginners and Largo-Mano for Basic and advance courses.
